After watching Love in Thoughts I decided to look Daniel Bruhl up on imdb.com and, realising my mother had this film on DVD, watched it on a whim. I’m very glad that I did because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Putting aside the fact that I find Daniel Bruhl to be absolutely gorgeous, I think it’s a lovely film. Granted, not a lot happens but that doesn’t bother me so much in a film.

I fully expected this film to be spectacular, what with it starring the wonderful Dames Maggie and Judi, but how disappointing. The acting was marvellous, the music beautiful, the film shot gorgeously, but what was the point? There was a very poor storyline. At the end of the film I was up and out of the cinema as fast as I could go, but on my way to the exit I passed rows of old ladies still gazing rapturously at the screen – maybe I’m just not old enough to appreciate this film fully yet. Perhaps I’ll check it out again in a few decades…
