I thought District 9 to be the best movie of summer ‘09, even topping Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. Very original, engrossing, and extremely intense sci-fi. It was also socially relevant, giving it some worth to you after you walk out of the theater. Was a great film to see during this past summer.

Definitely different from the mainstream/Hollywood idea of SF.

This is among the dumbest movies I’ve seen.

Nothing majorly novel in the storyline, but it was well done. The alien ‘prawns’ were both gross and engaging, against familiar but often nasty humankind.

However, the documentary style made it that bit less watchable – nowhere near as bad as Cloverfield, or Blair Witch, but still a bit queasy-making :P
