WORTH CONSUMING!

The Robe was the first film shot in Cinemascope. I watched it for Richard Burton, but the guy playing Caligula really steals the show!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not a big fan of the sappy ending, but this was a well made movie, deserving of its five Oscar nominations. Victor Mature plays Demetrius, which led to the sequel Demetrius and the Gladiators, a film I had seen before I saw this. Richard Burton is excellent, as always, in the starring role as Marcellus, the Roman tribune who crucified Christ.
