i downloaded he needs me as soon as the song was over.
i barely remember seeing this movie as a kid, but it still seemed to make as little sense to me now as it did then. which is interesting, because i understood what was actually going on, but as far as dialogue, i only understood about 40% of what was said. which is interesting, because it was obviously a conscious decision on the filmmakers part, and kind of reflects normal life.
shelly duvall is amazing though, and saves this movie several times from boredom with a trademark olive oil yelp, but robin williams’ popeye mutterings, though funny, just seem to get drowned out. but ray walston, as popeye’s dad, just annoyed me. meh.
overall, its fun. thats what its supposed to be. its an adaption of a comic strip/cartoon. chances are most of you have already seen it, so you already know.
