This movie is an exercise in Verfremdungseffekt, and to dig it, you need to engage your added layer of interpretation.

Or, you can just dig the Star, Kinski, in every image. His face. His voice (out of synch, at times). His posture.

There are loads of awe-inspiring anecdotes about the film. I need to consume Kinski’s autobiography “Ich Brauche Liebe”.

You need some snacks to see this movie. And subtitles. Without them, you need some more interpretative skills. And imagination.
