A story about this — 29 weeks ago
A decade and a half after it won honors at Sundance, this film which Edward Burns wrote, directed and starred in doesn’t hold up as well as it might. It’s rough in terms of cinematography and acting. Anyone who grew up Irish or Catholic might get more out of it than I did, but there were so many missed opportunities for depth that I felt like it skimmed the surface of big issues like religion, marriage, adultery, true love and family. I wanted to see it mainly for a glimpse of Connie Britton’s early acting. She’s matured a lot, thank goodness.
