WORTH CONSUMING!

Preston Sturges will probably will not be remembered for having some of the funniest yet remarkable movies pre 1950; but this movie is a bit remarkable primarily because 1. It was shot like three years before it was released and in bite sizes; 2. It made fun at a situation that many at that time would have found NOT laughable or even mentioned; With that said, Betty Hutton, one of the 40s bigger stars who could also hit a remarkable note as well, lived in small town America with her sister(Diana Lynn) and father(William Demarest), when she cons her steady beau(Eddie Bracken) to take his car to the big dance that the town was having for the men going to war; the same dance her father forbade her not to go to; Bracken(who’s 4F and isn’t going) falls for the sob story, and she goes to dance, has such a merry time that she forgets she got married and to WHOM?? well, that’s bad enough for her but what gets even stickier is when she ends up PREGNANT!!!(remember the time the film was made folks-1941)ok. It caused Bracken some problems when he stayed out all night at the theater waiting on Hutton, but NOW he gets caught up helping Hutton outta her predicament by trying to marry her using the fictictious name she comes up with to make it legit and the beat goes on from there and gets even MORE outrageous; One more thing; because of the time, Hutton is never shown with a stomach during her expecting scenes; only from certain angles; or from the top up; very interesting movie; dated but you can’t help but laugh at the antics;
