Just because this is anti-nazi and was a brave statement when made is no reason not to say that it’s awful.Satire?The pidgin German is not hilarious,it may have been once I have no idea,but now it’s cringeworthy,as are Chaplin’s funny walks and gestures.Can anyone let me know of one funny moment in the film?
Ok,it denounced Hitler but it is of the same artistic value as the anti nazi cartoons of the war.Sorry.

A worthy speech at the end,but it doesn’t save the film.

This is the funniest film I’ve seen in the last years. Especially humorous is the way how “The Great Dictator” looses patience. The way he speaks pseudo-German, I love it… the best scene, in my opinion, is the first speech of Herr Hynkel. Must-see for everyone!
