This Aussie movie takes us where we have never been before… up the Hawkesbury River to a rural community of oyster farmers. It’s quite a trip. I enjoyed the interrelations of the characters and the scenery, but the movie is weak on plot and episodic in the extreme. I chalk it up to poor editing and a thin script. Director Anna Reeves did the best she could with the material. I kept wanting more drama, but the film just kind of flows like the river as lead character Jack Flange seeks love, community and the money he stole in a fish market heist. I’d rate this a good date movie. You can look away and smooch and not miss much.
