Finished. L hated this book, I didn’t mind it. The writing was fine, but you had the feeling that Perrotta hated the characters he created. Just looked down on them.
It was only towards the end that you had the sense he’d opened up to them and started to understand them a little better… at least to enough to like them and write a little more interestingly about them.

Fun, witty and interesting. I never want to put it down when I get into it.

Reminds me of suburban life anywhere—finely plotted, though a little flat at times. The Madame Bovary reference is appropriate, though it could have gone further.

I picked up this book at about 8 p.m., and read straight through until 1:30 a.m. The characters were completely believable to me, especially the women. Did he really make it all up, or did he eavesdrop at playgrounds? Now I want to read “Election.” (I’ve seen the movie, but never considered reading the book.)

Should be good.
