I agree with other readers commenting on the All Consuming Website…This book is for anyone who’s ever had a dog that has been a handful, misunderstood or hard to train…or really for anyone who has ever loved a dog this book will speak to your heart.
This story was so well written and told. It almost felt like I was being told the story, one-on-one. It was told with a voice so real, and with so much love, humor and passion. John writes with such eloquence and heart.
I read this book in 2 days, couldn’t put it down. I laughed, smiled so hard my face hurt, felt tears of empathetic joy, pride and even sobbed in parts, as John, Jenny and Marley experienced such difficulties at times.
This story reminded me of the remarkable, amazing life that I had with my Jack Russell Terrier, Watts, who I had to put down in January 2003. Watts, too, was a difficult dog when he was young, but after many years of training, mistakes on both my part and Watts’, one escapade after another, he grew into a wonderful adult dog. I miss him so terribly, every day. John’s story about life with Marley was so touching, and made me think about my precious time with Watts and how I am a better person for having him in my life.
I will read this book again over the years I am sure. It is a treasure!!
Pssst I saw an interview with John online…it’s going to become a movie!!!! It will probably take a couple years he predicted…I can’t wait!!
