A story about this — 7 weeks ago
Hmm. Weird. Good, but a bit difficult to describe!
WaI starts off as a fairly gentle set of tales, alternatively following a wizard whose work involves the future; a young boy and his dog; and a man in charge of a work crew refurbishing a house with a strange presence. Occasionally these tales overlap, just a little, but mostly they follow their own paths. All three are interesting, although I admit the house drew me in the most – not least because of the interludes, written by the shadowy creature in the house!
However, towards the end it starts getting a little confuzzling. I kind of liked it, but I’m still not fully sure I understand. It’s like Neverending Story, where the story is telling itself, sort of. I suppose I just wasn’t expecting the change in tone, although it does make for a very interesting – if not entirely satisfying, for me in my lack of totally ‘getting it’ – conclusion.
Have moved on to the sequel already, in hopes of further comprehension :)
