I’m not going to argue with the general consensus: a rather rubbish movie, JLo is awful, but good grief does it all look amazing!!

Simultaneously visually stunning and stomach-churning thanks to the very distinct style of director Tarsem (REM’s “Losing My Religion” video), but Jennifer Lopez’s “acting” is an absolute joke. It is incredibly painful just watching her try to pull off the role of an experimental psychotherapist. The surreal visuals haunted me for days, but this film almost angered me that Lopez has achieved the level of fame she has- for what? The woman cannot act.
What an odd little movie. And it kept me up because I couldn’t stop watching it! The cinematography! The sets! The costumes! The cast! I couldn’t quite buy JLo as a social worker, but oh my gosh — everything else in this film is dead-on, especially the sequences inside the character’s minds. And Phillip D’Onofrio is so chilling as a schizophrenic killer. Maybe that’s why I had trouble falling asleep last night!
