Was in the mood for some meat and potatoes so I made some stew and cooked up some Irish soda bread to go with it. I used the following recipe and it turned out pretty good. The bread did seem a touch dry, but was great with the stew. It was sweet enough that it didn’t need any butter or jam, but I can tell that honey would go perfectly with it. I can’t say that I’ll consume this regularly, but it would made a fine addition to a St. Patrick’s day meal.

I LOVE this bread!
They used to sell it at one of the supermarkets near my house. They put raisins and walnuts in it and the texture outside was floury and chewy but the inside was soft and springy. It tasted wonderful with some sharp cheddar.

Too bad they don’t sell it anymore, and I have no idea where to get some.

it was very bland but i like plain things so i thought it was ok. wouldn’t want to eat it all the time. forced my co-workers to try it and only a few attempted it. it’s not a pretty bread. noone really liked it that much but what do they know?
