As in Season One, the episodes are uneven… some great, some lousy, most simply watchable. Apparently the writers felt the Temporal Cold Wars theme wasn’t strong enough to provide the thread that held this season together, so they brought in a new one: Klingon Pursuit. Having Klingons around assures more action and (theoretically) better ratings, if the number of phasers, torpedos and cannons fired and punches thrown is the way to measure dramatic appeal. But it could have fans asking, “What happened to science part of science fiction?” Oh, it does pop up… almost as an after-thought in most segments. The season’s ending episode could well have been the note on which the series ended – not especially intriguing. But like the network that sponsored ST:E, I’m willing to give Season Three a try.
