A question I have about this — 1 year ago
What possessed the voters to nominate this for two Academy Awards? It is slow, unfunny, unmoving, and shot as if in a closet. Woody Allen seems to think B&W=art. It does not. The best scenes are in Carnegie’s Deli where the hard-up vaudevilleans tell Danny Rose stories. Allen created this film because Mia Farrow wanted to play a part where she wore sunglasses throughout the entire movie. We scarcely see her face at all. She also wore a lot of padding to give her some curves. Not attractive either. This was obviously made back in the day when anything Woody Allen did was an event. A very missable movie.
