WORTH CONSUMING!

Here’s a great idea for a triple feature. Watch this after seeing “All the President’s Men” and The Hoax. What incredible contrasts in journalism: investigative, deceptive, and entertaining. And they all have to do with Nixon and his fall from the highest office in the nation.

This one fully deserved its five Academy Award nominations. Frank Langella was perfectly believable as Tricky Dick. I remember watching David Frost when I was a teen and unfortunately actor Michael Sheen seemed like Tony Blair playing Frost, who was much more witty, crafty and intelligent in real life. The DVD has excerpts from the real interview as a bonus feature. Kudos to Director Ron Howard. This film is well worth watching.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t know a lot about the whole Watergate Business I have to admit. And I’ve never seen the original interviews, so I can’t really judge how good of an immitation it was. But i quite liked this movie. Especially because of the final bit, where Nixon admits he was involved. I was glued to my screen for that.

I felt sorry for him. Even though he lied and cheated and bribed, at the end of the day he was still a human being. I think that’s a good thing to keep in mind, that someone who you think is the lowest of the low, still goes home at the end of the day to a family, feeds his dog or waters the neighbours plants or something. A bad leader is not necessarily a bad person. We forget to make that distinction sometimes.
