WORTH CONSUMING!

Sean Penn once again proves his incredible versatility as an actor. I enjoyed the wonderful way in which actual TV footage was cut into this film so frequently, too. I had almost forgotten about the Anita Bryant saga. The bonus features on the DVD include interviews with some of the people who were actually part of the struggle for gay rights in the Castro district of San Francisco in the 1970s. Well acted, well directed, well edited, and well worth watching.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t think that I can say as many good things about this movie as I want to. I’m not a Sean Penn fan but he won me over in this role! This could have easily been a boring and slow-moving movie but it was very well done. I really loved everything about it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A bit of a hagiography and of course leaves you with the doubt in your mind of what was real and what was artistic license,Fine performance from Penn.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Excellent movie. Sean Penn was most definitely worthy of the Oscar and deserves all the praise he has gotten for the role. Has it really been 27 years since my friends and I went to the Midniight Movies every weekend to watch the antics of Jeff Spicoli and his friends? (Usually in a very similar state of consciousness.) Whoa… Anyway, in addition to Penn’s performance, what really grabbed me was the editing; the movie had a great flow to it. Fortunately, for we the consumers, there was stiff competition this year in every catagory and the powerhouse Slumdog Millionaire sent a number of deserving flicks home empty handed.
