NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I really didn’t expect to be bored of this movie. But I was. I think it’s because there was absolutely no plot whatsoever. The only point was Bella meeting Edward. This whole ’I’m too dangerous for you but I can’t help myself but I’m too dangerous for you’ jojo-thing I found highly annoying.

That all said, I’m probably not the target audience, which seems to be teenage girls who like looking at very defensive yet vulnerable boys with their shirts off.

I didn’t expect it to be fantastic or anything, but I thought I

Why I recommend this — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

it’s soo bad, it’s good. I couldn’t get through the book, but I made it through the movie. The acting at times were laughable at best, especially the scene where Bella walks into class where a fan was blowing. I’m curious to see how this saga ends!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I can see why this story is attractive for all the lonely girls/women out there, but it’s a little too cheesy for my taste. The marketing of this is just too obvious – a new girl in town who is so irresistible that she has not only the attention of the whole school, but also has two hot guys on her in an instant. What girl wouldn’t want two guys to fight over her, and end up with an eternal love? Especially the love of someone as good looking as Robert Pattinson?

(Sidenote, why do all of the actors in this movie mistake acting out “attraction” with “looking like they’re going to vomit”?)

The only other problem I had with the movie was that it felt like nothing was really going on. When it ended, I couldn’t believe that that’s all there was. (I felt the same with the early Harry Potter movies too, being a huge fan of the books, but as they went along it felt more solid.)

I didn’t have a problem with the glittery vampire the way a lot of people did…my sister described it as “a modern take on vampire folklore” and I’d have to agree that it worked. It wasn’t Mariah Carey glitter, it was more of a shiny glow that kind of reminded me of melting skin, and isn’t that kind of what happens to vampires when they go in the sun?

Really, this movie isn’t something I HAD to turn off…it was entertaining enough to watch all the way through, and the love story is compelling enough to want to see through to another movie.

A question I have about this — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I guess I should read the book to find the answer, but maybe someone here would like to clue me in instead…

Why do the vampires keep going to high school? It’s not like they are grade schoolers who people would question if they weren’t in school. Edward’s 17 – just say you graduated already. If I was blessed with everlasting life, I don’t think I would spend my days doing high school over and over again.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i watched the movie before and after i read the first book and i’m glad i did. the movie stayed true to the book for the most part, but i felt it left out a couple of crucial bits of information. watching it the second time i thought they could’ve done a better job casting esme. she was too plain for me in the movie. loved it though!!!! i am utterly in love with edward and have a minor crush on carlisle. i’m enjoying being wrapped up in the story and the characters.

better than I thought it would be — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

All the hype and teeny-bopper support convinced me that this movie would really suck. I watched it not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. I like vampire stories, especially Anne Rice’s version, but I thought Twilight did bring a fresh twist to the vampire genre.

I would have rated this movie three-and-a-half stars if that were an option, four is too high. I’m looking forward to the next movie in the series and hope it expands further on the tale.

I’m not interested in reading the books. I have plenty to read!
