WORTH CONSUMING!

Ahhh, Romain Duris. Some wonderful moments in this film. If not overall great, worth watching for Duris and those moments.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I loved this captivating and stylish French thriller-cum- character study. I was spellbound from the first minute to the last: largely, I think, to do with a simply remarkable and complex performance by the brooding Romain Duris – by turns charasmatic and darkly intense.

Tense, vivid and poignant stuff!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Meh.

Insert Gallic shrug :{

I really wanted to love this movie, but I found it painfully over-rated. The only aspect I really liked was costuming, specifically, the male lead’s suits.

WORTH CONSUMING!

From the moment he comes on the screen Romain Durais is filled with an amazing, kinetic energy. He’s constantly moving and is mesmerizing to watch in Jacques Audiard’s The Beat That My Heart Skipped. I don’t know what it is about French filmmakers, but I love the stylish character studies from the New Wave to now, from Jacques Becker to Jacques Audiard. I loved, loved, loved this film. The music, the way it was shot and the acting. Subtle and wonderful.
