Ben finds an old door knocker, which turns out to have come from the recently demolished local haunted manor. A helpful museum curator tells him some of the spooky history of the place (2 half-hour stories) before Ben finds himself thrown into similarly horrific circumstances…

I was expecting a bit more humour from Mark Gatiss, but this plays pretty much for chills, albeit in a low-key kind of a way. Individually neither of the initial two stories were brilliant – they felt a bit drawn-out to fill the half hour – but the overarching modern-day story was a classic little ghost story.
