Back when I first discovered Lush, I had two favourites: Bathos, and this. I imagine the colours had a lot to do with it, but also two lovely scents. Happy is a bergamot and citrus, uplifting and yup – happy! – scent.

I was gutted when it left the stores, and my first Lush Retro purchase (only available on the website). In the meantime, I’ve read a lot of fairly negative reviews that led me to fear this wasn’t going to be what I remembered.

In fairness, I doubt this would make my favourites list now, after I’ve tried so many other things, but thankfully it was still nice! The colour – that brilliant turquoise – is still lovely, and the smell still uplifting.

The only downside was how hard I found the bar to crumble; perhaps I’m storing my bars badly right now, but I like the soft’n’crumbly, full of essential oils bars over the too-tough to do more than break into chunks and chuck in the bath. Ah well – all works the same in the end!
