Before reading this book, I read Nic Sheff’s Tweak. It was really crazy going from one perspective to another, and it made me sympathize for every person involved. I found myself piecing together the different parts, trying to figure out what was going on in Tweak during the parts in Beautiful Boy that matched up. Beautiful Boy was very well written, and I look forward to reading more of David Sheff’s books, as well as Nic’s follow-up memoir.

This story of a father’s experience with his son’s meth addiction is an honest account of a difficult situation. As well as providing an insight to some of the universal aspect of addiction, it is also full of well-researched information.
