First off: yes, I know there are faults with Beatles Rock Band. The slight tweaks to some of the songs (A final chord for “Her Majesty”? REALLY?), the initially limited song repertoire, the inability to export the songs to regular Rock Band titles; all of those are things that I wish were different. But really, there is so much more to love about this game. The new harmony feature; the unlockable tidbits; the new instruments (which we sadly cannot afford but have played on); the really cool-looking animation and play screens. Plus, you get to play along to THEBEATLES, and I love The Beatles. This is the only xBox game my wife will ask me to play with her, and she plays it at least three times a week. Sentimental, sure, but it means a lot to me. I don’t think we’ll ever really be “finished consuming” this, particularly with the new track releases (hopefully more will come soon!), but I’ve explored it enough for now. For all these reasons, this is probably my favourite video game of 2009, and I hope to be playing it for the rest of 2010 as well.
