WORTH CONSUMING!

If you love Genosha, don’t read this book! If you hate the Hellfire Club, (which I do) sorry.
But this is a great story arc.
Right now, Astonishing is running the 3rd story arc, so you’ll have to wair.
Joss Whedon is a freakin’ genius.
But I still can’t understand where AXM fits in the XMen canon.
But man is it worth the read.
Consume it!

WORTH CONSUMING!

It had been a couple of months since I read the first TPB with Whedon’s interpretation of the X-Men. I liked it a lot, but was really afraid he wouldn’t be able to pull this off again for the second story arc.

I was wrong.

To put it simply, this book is a fun ride ! Whedon’s grasp on the characters is just amazing. They feel more real than they have for many years. Even Claremont’s recent work didn’t have that touch.

And the story itself has all these little surprising “Oh !” moments. Just great.

Not to forget Cassaday’s art. He has this talent of providing beautiful renditions without distracting from the story. It just flows perfectly.

I’m looking forward to the next collection !

WORTH CONSUMING!

Fabulous. I was a little worried about Astonishing X-Men Vol. 1: Gifted when I picked it up, ‘cos I figured the book wouldn’t live up to my expectations of a Joss-written comic. Boy was I wrong.
If anything, Dangerous exceeds the expectations I had for it. In spite of being nearly blown away by the writing and pacing of the first volume, I was unprepared for what Joss has done with the X-Men in this 6-issue arc. Excellent writing and characterization, as well as some excellent action. Cassaday continues to impress as well – these are hands-down the prettiest comics I’ve read since Marvel 1602.
