WORTH CONSUMING!

Great movie! I believe you must have a bit of love for animation, particularily anime to have a bit more of an appreciation for this movie. It made me cry, the story is touching and everyone can relate a bit to this poor family. It tells a great story, and shows the pain of World War II quite well!

i don’t get what all the hype was about. i mean it’s an ok movie and all that but did it make me cry? no. very depressing? no. very moving? no. maybe i missed something.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I just don’t get it. It was really painful to watch. The animation was subdued and never vital. Really just emotionally draining and not in a cathartic way.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one of the best movie that I have ever seen. I have to admit, I never finish it. I just could not. Based on the true events, it’s a heart braking story of a brother and little sister. Maybe because it’s an animation, it has qualities which would be impossible to capture or deliver by real actors.

Other work by Isao Takahata is much lighter but still extremely good.
