NOT WORTH CONSUMING

While the facts of the case of Tom Capano are interesting, the writing is dry, stilted and peppered with rhetoric. There is no mystery about who did what, no suspense and no question who the bad guy is here. I would have preferred a more novel-like accounting, with a little mystery as to the outcome.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the second book of Ann Rule’s that I have read, the first being The Stranger Beside Me. I think she is an excellent true crime writer. You learn a lot about people and about how the world works through her books, and I am not sure if it is because it is a woman’s perspective, but she is able to tell you of gruesome crimes in a way so that you will know about them, without it being unbearable.
