Sometimes I think that Cat Power is overrated. The snobbish part of my brain agrees that her mountain of accolades are well-earned and deserved. But the part of me that likes to boogie is tired that Power’s music goes at only one speed: slow. It’s true that she can bring raw emotion to songs, especially covers. The tracks on this EP didn’t make it onto Jukebox, but they’re fine nonetheless.
