I’d just like to say that I absolutely loved this book. I read it over the summer, and Hawthorne’s use of language left me dumbfounded. I think it to be a genuine pity that anyone is forced to read this in a school setting where they’re bound not to enjoy it.

Personally, I think I would’ve loved this book if I weren’t reading it for school. I love philosophy, psychology, and all that. But in school, they made us rip it apart, overanalyze it, and not enjoy at all the beautiful language and the philosophical and psychological theories it presents. Thanks for nothing, education.
