WORTH CONSUMING!

Nevermind the gramatically-incorrect title of the album.

This is where T&S lost a bit of their original fan base, because it’s where they transitioned from folk-pop to just plain pop. It’s a shame some people feel you can’t like both.

The trick is to listen to this album (and their latest, “So Jealous”, as well) pretty much pretending it’s the first time you’re hearing Tegan and Sara. You can’t go into it expecting it to sound like “Under Feet Like Ours” or “This Business of Art”. If you listen to it on its own terms, it’s actually very enjoyable.

Tegan and Sara are more angsty than angry these days, which makes sense since they’re a few years older now and their lives have changed. They’ve experienced things they hadn’t before and their whole worldview is different and it shows. I’m not saying the songs on this album are lyrical magic or anything, but it’s still great auditory fun.

Make extra sure to check out “Living Room”, a faintly stalkerish tune with lots of fun banjo going on.
