Nowhere near the star power or laughs of the original, but this third episode in the Major League franchise is worth watching for the same reason its predecessors are: a good laugh. John Warren tagged Scott Bakula as the central character, a minor league coach with big league aspirations, and dregs up a few of the cast from the previous two films to fill out his line-up. The rivalry this time is between the Twins and their own farm club, the Buzz. I love Ishihara (Tanaka) as the owner of a miniature golf course, if only for the clever use of superimposed translations on the screen. The film does not disappoint, but let’s leave it at that. Three swings at the fence is enough, Mr. Warren. On to other fields of dreams.
