WORTH CONSUMING!

This silly little thirteen-episode series that ran on MTV from 2002 to 2003 is filled with a surprising amount of talent.

There are a lot of Scrubs connections: Zach Braff John C. McGinley, Donald Faison, Christa Miller and Neil Flynn. There’s also a couple of Mad TV and SNL connections—Michael McDonald, Nicole Miller, and Will Forte—and special appearances by Michael J. Fox, Tom Green, Jack Black, Andy Dick, and John Stamos, to name a few.

If you’re not impressed by the cast, perhaps the theme song lyrics will sway you:

Way way back in the 1980’s
Secret government employees
Dug up famous guys and ladies
And made amusing genetic copies
Now their clones are sexy teens now
They’re going to make it if they try
Loving, learning, sharing, judging
Time to laugh and shiver and cry
Clone High, Clone High

Brilliant.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Wish there was more.. I found it very entertaining, as entertaining as I find Family Guy and The Simpsons to be.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Let’s forget about the catchy theme song for a second. Is Clone High funny? It parodies the cliches of high school television shows and movies to the point of ridiculousness; every episode is a “very special” episode, and playing up Joan of Arc’s unrequited love for Abe Lincoln really works. The writers get a lot of mileage caricaturing the famous clones, which gets annoying if you watch too many episodes in a row. Clone High had a lot of potential that was squandered when it was cancelled. It’s not subtle. It’s not classy. But it makes me laugh. That’s good enough.
