WORTH CONSUMING!

i always forget how great an actor sean penn is. he performance in this was a little lacking. still good but not as challenging as some of his roles. i thought nicole kidman was charming and felt like the african aspect was like being in a nice dream. it lulled me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Lots of twists and turns, good solid plot, and fine acting. I thought the end was a bit of a letdown, but getting there was worth the viewing. Sean Penn has turned into a very mature actor, and teaming him up with Nicole Kidman was a brilliant casting achievement. Kidman’s Afrikan accent is hypnotic. And Penn has mastered a stoic look that’s pin-up perfect. Lots of good supporting roles, too. Keep your eyes on the screen during the bus scene. There’s a lot going on there as various storylines merge.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’m indifferent to this movie. If it is politically accurate, and I have no idea if it is, then it’s more impressive. But either way, it was ultimately a bit contrived and didn’t amount to much. It wasn’t bad but I don’t recommend you rush out and see it.
