This book was worth consuming because I rarely find books that aren’t. That said, I found the constant focus on Motherhood and Mothering (with capital letters) to be disappointing. Is that really what a feminist utopia would be? Is that all is could be? It was a big let down, at least for me; I was forced to constantly keep in mind that the book was written sometime around 1915.

I’m starting this now because it seems like a good idea to do some of the reading for one of my classes ahead of time; zie did send us the booklist in the order that we were going to read it, afterall. Plus, it seems like some sort of strange assumption that we’d start them over the summer… makes me think she’s going to assign a lot of supplimentary reading during the year. So yep. Reading school books already.
