Why I recommend this — 3 years ago
I’ve been a long time fan of Faith Hill, and have always eagerly anticipated each of hew new albums. I had heard clips of Faith singing “Paris” during Fashion Week in 2004 and thought the song was haunting and beautiful. Then “Mississippi Girl” came out and I was intrigued as to what the rest of the album would sound like. When it arrived I was very impressed. Each song stands out on it’s own. Faith has established her place in country music, and in the music industry. She can not be tied to a genre of any time. Her voice is powerful when it needs to be, or sweet and soulful. She gets the job done.
Her first two hits, “Mississippi Girl” and “Like We Never Loved at all” were written by John Rich of Big & Rich fame. She also used a number of songs from newcomer Lori McKenna.
My favorite songs on this CD are the title track “Fireflies”, “Wish for You” and “Dearly Beloved”.
Wish for You is my standout song…the one that “sells” this CD in my opinion. It’s perfect as a lullabye for children. Her voice is gentle and beautiful.
No matter what the critics say about her, or the fact that she doesn’t get the credit she really deserves for her music, she is still a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
