Or did you also notice the Moby Dick overtones?

I thought it was so strong that Jaws is just another adaptation. Quint as Ahab, no?

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was living with my cousins in Conn. The beach where I swam had shark nets. My first visit to an American movie theatre too. The movie was so scary I had to hide my eyes from it. (I saw it again a short while ago and laghed so much at the shark. How could we ever feel it was the real deal back then?)

At the end the audience stood up and applauded. I had never experienced that either.. but I was only sixteen

WORTH CONSUMING!

I first saw this in the theaters in July 1975. I have seen it so many times over the years in different formats, on vhs, dvd, television with and without commercial interruption. There is the scene where a victim’s head pops thru a hole in the hull of a boat. I jumped out of my seat the first dozen times I watched it. At least I don’t do that anymore.

WORTH CONSUMING!

When I first watched Jaws it was definitely worth consuming, not so scary anymore. I’m all growed up….
