WORTH CONSUMING!

I just finished reading John Lennon: All I Want Is the Truth by Elizabeth Partridge. It also states its a pictorial biography. I read a lot of young adult (YA) / teen books because, luckily, it is part of my job.

I am not much a biography reader. I know some people really love biographies but I always have a hard time getting into them. I do love biographies about musicians though. Elizabeth Partridge did a wonderful job with this biography. It is filled with wonderful photographs of John Lennon, The Beatles, John Lennon’s family, as well as images from the various time periods in John Lennon’s life. The way she incorporates what is happening in the world, for example, images from the Vietnam War and how John Lennon’s life and music was affected by it, is intertwined with grace and insight.

She does not try to gloss over things or sweeten relationships in John Lennon’s life. It is very thoughtful, detailed and definitely worth picking up. Also, it makes a lovely coffee table book.
