Lovely to see Terrence Howard (whom I have only ever seen in the abysmal Crash) in this role - I adored the speech that opens the movie. I was also a fan of Nola, although I thought she got treated very shabbily by DJay. That’s probably my biggest gripe - I didn’t understand why everyone loved D so much, since he was kind of a self-absorbed jerk most of the time. Other than that, a surprisingly sweet film.

I just got through watching this movie and it was good; no doubt; I even laughed because I was like this song making “Best Song” at the Oscars? but shucks, I can dig it now; For Terence Howard, it was HARD out there doing what he was doing; very interesting movie;

I really loved this movie. I loved the gritty, 70’s-looking cinematography, and Terrence Howard’s performance, as always, was a force of nature. (Doesn’t hurt that he’s so easy on the eyes, either!)

Brilliant. One of the best movies I’ve seen this year; in fact, I saw the preview for this when I went to see Crash, another amazing movie with Terrance Howard. It was gritty and hopeful and tragic; amazing.
