My teacher read this to the class when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I remember getting caught up in the story and being horribly disturbed and upset by the book later on. I may have over-reacted to the book at the time, but I haven’t liked it since.

I first read this book during the sixth grade. It’s a really sweet story about a boy and his two dogs… but it’s a lot more than that. It’s about trust and friendship and loss and coping with that loss. It’s one of those books that makes me cry every time I read it, but I like that about it.
