one of the best mob movies I’ve seen in awhile. I like how it wasn’t from the usually perspective of the head of the mafia but rather from someone who fought the mob and won.

Just watched this again. I have seen this movie countless times, and each time I watch this film, I see something new in it that blows me away. The writing, the direction (at least with the main characters), and most of all the performances, are full of subtlety, richness and depth.

Pretty amazing to watch a young Brando, still so full of youth and vigor before the dark days of the Godfather. I felt sad for his character throughout most of this movie… not pity, just like I wish he had someone to help him. His is really one of the gentlest characters in the entire film, in spite of the fact that he lives near the docks, has criminals for “friends,” and has a history of fighting. Very good film… I know I’ll watch it again one day to try to absorb more of it.

Ah… and I figured out why I didn’t like ‘Parinda’.
