The Christian arrogance towards the Jews was awful. Interesting subtext of Antonio being attracted to Bassanio. I don’t think that was in the play.
Impressive-looking, too.

WORTH CONSUMING!
i hardly ‘saw’ it because i was trying to read along. felt a little like ‘don’t look now’ because of the venice setting, all quesey and grey . . . every time i see an interpretation of or read merchant of venice i think it’s going to be better, more complex or critical than it always is, so it’s always a let down . . . but i’d say its still worth seeing. but without the exclamation marks!
