WORTH CONSUMING!

...in not-so-gay Pa-ree. Bryan Mills has less than 96 hours to save his daughter from the bad guys. Recommended viewing: Spartan (Val Kilmer) and tv’s Burn Notice. These two come to mind, but Taken stands on its own merit. Cull the teen drama crap and treat it like the action flick that it is. Er, action+drama. Go see it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Liam Neeson should get a BMF wallet for this one. Liam plays a former spook in this one and he goes on the warpath after his daughter is abducted. All he does is kick ass and take names. Pierre Morel’s direction was well paced. Taken was written by Luc Besson.

Famke, please stop doing whatever it is you are doing to your eyebrows. It looks like you have “Star Trek Eyebrow” but on both sides at the same time.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Just finished watching this. I was shocked it was PG13. Liam Neeson must kill like 30 people who are in the way of his rescuing his daughter out of white slavery. Very intense, well-paced, enjoyable.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t believe this movie was getting 1-star reviews all over the place! It was very enjoyable, in a slightly gritty kind of a way. Liam Neeson is perfect as the ex-Government agent, who pits his “very particular set of skills” to excellent use in trying to rescue his daughter after she is kidnapped by human traffickers. Especially compared to Nic Cage’s assassin in Bangkok Dangerous recently, Neeson has that cold, efficient, and often downright brutal demeanor that makes him utterly believable.

My only real complaint is the length of time it takes to set the movie up, given that the big kidnap scene has already been shown pretty much in full in the trailers. It’s only after this that the film really gets going – and yes, it is very, very violent. However, it is all in keeping with the plot, mixed with a great deal of action, and with underlying ‘good’ (and understandable) intentions.
