I thought it was really good. I’m sure it didn’t quite follow the book, but as it was so long since I read the book I couldn’t tell which bits were new. Pure fans probably hate it, but I’d recommend it to half-hearted fans. It’s quite quirky, so I wouldn’t recommend it to people without a strange sense of humour.

I’m a purist. I thought this could never ever be as good as the radio series. I was right. It wasn’t. Not bad for a beginner, though.

Just read down the other entries about this film. God dammit, the books were not first! Why does everyone go on and on about the books? Sheesh.

I like SciFi, and I usually enjoy British humour. This, however, was not my cuppa. I’m sure the book was better. Glad I got it as a freebie at Blockbuster. It was worth seeing, but not worth paying to see.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I want a (new-style) Marvin! The knitted version will be fine, thank you :)

Was a bit worried about the updating of all this, but nostalgia aside I think it was okay.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this movie and felt that it was made with the same feel as the book even if it wasn’t exactly the same story as the book. They also managed to keep my favorite part of the book in the movie. This was where the whale is created high above the planet and you get to know what it is thinking as it falls. I thought that Marvin looked nothing like I imagined him, but Alan Rickman brought him to life anyway. Finally, please remember not to forget your towel.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I like this movie but I marked “Not worth consuming” because the screen adaptation was just horrible.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i like the effective, yet comparatively low-budget sci fi special effects.

Roarously funny at some points, the film falls flat overall. Adams’ wonderfully creative and original sci-fi fun is massaged into a formulatic love story of dumpy-dude-gets-the-girl. Overall, an unfortunate adaptation.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Weird, rambling plot, but very, very, very funny.
