A story about this — 4 years ago
I read this a while ago, like everyone from Québec with a little interest in their country’s books. It’s one of the books that you’ll hear the most when you ask for book recs, around here.
I can of course see the appeal. It’s a good story, interesting&lively style, alive characters, and a nice intricate love story to tie it up. I guess I’m just a bit blasée from this kind of on-the-road-because-my-girlfriend-dumped-me writing. I think a bit of change in the formula would do good to those few authors stuck in that genre. But then again, Stéphane Bourguignon, another author who mastered the style in his first books, tried to renew himself and I just hate the result, so maybe it’s good that it doesn’t change much ;)
Also, it’s only Vigneault’s second book. I look forward to his next efforts. I think he has a movie in the works, that’ll certainly be a nice change.
