A story about this — 5 years ago
For me it started with the soundtrack; I love Air’s work and I got the Virgin Suicides CD. The dreamy hazy feeling of the songs made me want to see the movie too. I missed it in the cinema, so I read the book first. Which is great by the way, Eugenides creates a mood that carries throughout the story. Loving the book, I didn’t expect a movie to get to the same level. But this movie did. The use of light helped creating the same mood as in the novel. The sets were really well thought out too, with little details (drawings of rainbows and unicorns in the girl’s room for instance) that made everything ‘right’. I highly recommend it.
