I get so very tired of listening to the latest “next big thing” only to find it’s really only ho-hum or a little above average. Most people tend to give unfair weight to new albums they like simply because they’re new. Keren Ann doesn’t belong to that category. This album has plenty of variety in a GOOD way: it never sounds choppily thrown together or quirky for quirky’s sake. Keren just has a somewhat broad palette of musical interests and manages to do them well. Add in that jewel of a voice and you have something special. Recommended.
