WORTH CONSUMING!

I know no one else ever feels this way, but I’m daring to say I like the U.S. version better. This is still a really great show, but I love Steve Carrell, and I relate more to that version, being an office worker(cringe) in the U.S. and all. People always say “well you must not have a sophisticated sense of humor” or “you just don’t get British humour,” but I love British humor and pretty much anything British and I still think the show’s hilarious and Ricky Gervais is brilliant, but it baffles me why no one thinks the U.S. version is funny. Just putting it out there.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Better than the US verion. It’s dry humour at it’s best, and Steve Covar is not the best for that. Leave it to the Brits.

watched both seasons. — 3 years ago

but not the special. won’t watch the us version, most likely. like to spot the actors elsewhere.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Brilliant, dark and cringe-inducing at times, Gervais and Merchant’s The Office is able to quickly move from comedy to painful reality. Watching it again makes me realize how all of the elements for the arc of the two seasons were there in the beginning and the overall structure makes for challenging and ultimately rewarding viewing. There are very few tv shows or films that can combine laughing and being uncomfortable so well. The characters are much more complex than they seem at first and as the show went into the second series I was completely hooked.

Benjamin and I rented this to watch with his parents. I didn’t realize it was six episodes. We only watched 3 plus the documentary in the extras. It is good, though in some ways I don’t like it. I think it feels so much like being at work that I can’t laugh. I dunno. But, watching the documentary made me enjoy it more so if you don’t mind seeing a few scenes in advance of the episodes you could consider watching the documentary first. ;)
