A 1972 scifi movie, a time when everything did not revolve around big-budget CG and ‘star power’. Slow, thoughtful, with a powerful message that has not lost it’s voice and relevance. Oh, AND the best robots ever. I’m amazed I didn’t see it sooner, but glad that I finally did.
Directed by Douglas Trumbull, who was special photographic effects supervisor for 2001: Space Odyssey before and went on to do the same for Andromeda Strain, Close Encounters, and Blade Runner as well as directing other movies. That should be enough of an incentive for any scifi buff who hasn’t seen this one ;)
