Endowments & mystery — 3 years ago
I was a bit skeptical about listening to this audiobook because I feel that all the books coming out recently for young adult readers are all about British orphans going to boarding school and having magical powers. Ok, this does have that but it is pretty entertaining. I am a little late in acquainting myself with Charlie Bones but he is an interesting character. A leader, a magician and a relatively good guy who takes care of his friends. The dynamic in the Bones household is a bit strange, a mix of both evil and good, his mother, uncle and one of his great aunts are nice while his grandmother and other great aunts are actually out to get him.
It’ll be interesting to see what else happens to Bones and his friends…one of his friends recently accepted an endownment from a white witch. I’m also really happy that they all have their own special talents, like Charlie can enter pictures, Olivia and conjure whatever images she sees, his uncle can make light bulbs explode…it’s like they are super heroes. And you know, when you were a kid you always wished you could be a super hero or a mutant.
