Everyone says DS9 sucked until the third season.

Well, I don’t know about that, but this is the season when it got good. DS9 is my favourite Star Trek series, and the Dominion War really helps it along. Alien of the week gets quite trite, as does Voyager’s magical reset button. DS9 gives us serious scifi of considerably more depth and intelligence that we usually got from TNG or ever got from TOS with their glib captains who never stop to seriously consider other points of view or the possibility of ‘necessary evils’.

I’m not saying their are necessary evils, but a captain who considers the possibility is a lot more interesting than one who’s written like a Gary Sue.
